Geelong Community Foundation – A great way to give

You don’t have to be Gina Rinehart or Gerry Harvey to be a philanthropist. In fact, philanthropy is defined as “the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.” And remember, donations are tax-deductible when given to an approved charity.

If you have no idea where to start when it comes to giving, then perhaps consider the Geelong Community Foundation‘s Philanthropy 500 (P500) collective giving program.

Hamilton Morello are are proud to have donated to the P500 this year, as we love the concept of contributing collectively for a higher impact in the local area of Geelong (a place where many of our clients reside).

The P500 strategy is to make one primary grant each year and to grow an endowment fund collectively.

As a $500 donor, you also get to vote on which community organisation receives the annual grant at a fun pitch night which is a wonderful networking opportunity and way to engage your children and the next generation in philanthropy.

Just know that even the smallest donation can make a huge difference for your local community or charity of choice. It’s not about millions of dollars. It’s about dollars and sense.
