$5,000 Business Support

As a result of returning to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions, the Victorian Government has announced a new one-off $5,000 grant to support eligible businesses operating within metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire to get through the temporary COVID-19 lockdowns.


Businesses can apply where they meet all the criteria listed below. They must:

  • operate a business located in metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire
  • be a participant in the Commonwealth Government's JobKeeper Payment scheme
  • employ people
  • be registered with WorkSafe on 30 June 2020
  • have an annual payroll of less than $3 million in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis
  • be registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) as at 30 June 2020
  • hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN at 30 June 2020
  • be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator.

To be eligible you will need to provide evidence of the following:

1. the address of your business through providing a copy of the most recent:

  • Utility bill; or
  • Lease agreement; or
  • Council Rate notice

2. Proof of your participation in the JobKeeper scheme. This might include a copy of most recent JobKeeper monthly declaration.

If you have already received a $10,000 Business Support Fund grant or payroll tax refund or waiver, you are still able to apply for this $5,000 grant.

Applications close on 19 August 2020.
