Tribute to Joe Morello

The recent death of Joe Morello on 30th October brings an important part of the history of this firm to a sad end.

Joe was a founding partner of Hamilton Morello when it began in 1992. Prior to the merger with Hamilton’s, Joe and Geoff Mullane operated under the banner of ‘Morello and Co’ for many years. Joe’s legacy lives on in the fact that many of his clients remain with the practice after more than 40 years. They are reaping the benefits from his focus on long-term business strategies, advice and planning. Joe’s expertise was in the bus and coach industries, and he became a leader in that field. Joe retired as a partner in the firm in June 2001.

Common thinking is not to mix family and business , however Joe was able to effectively combine the two. With his help and advice, Joe’s three brothers have successfully managed various businesses to provide financial security for themselves and their families.

Outside of business, Joe’s interests included good food and good wine – his hospitality and generosity were well known in both his business and personal lives. He was actively involved in his local community, and always enjoyed ‘a flutter on the horses’.

Joe’s greatest personal achievement was his family, and together with his wife, Sally, they have always been very proud and supportive of their children and grandchildren.
